Chefs twist ruined the dishes. Never had a Philly I didn't like until today. Drinks tasted like perfume.
excellent service, excellent food. Never hesitate going there. you will love itWe sat outside, great weather, nice and quiet this was a dessert we split. lemon curd with meringue, a scoop of homemade poppyseed ice cream. It was a 5 stars
Great place for a romantic evening or a night out with friends. The service is very good. The wait staff is friendly and make great recommendations. Good atmosphere and the cocktails are all made perfectly.
What a nice find in central Iowa City! Oysters flown in twice a week!I had a lunch of "pick 2" with the wild mushroom melt on toasted focaccia, paired with tomato bisque. Best tomato soup I've had in years!
Our server was so patient and pleasant. Checked on us enough but not too much because it took us a while to figure out what we wanted. He was very polite. It was our first time there and will definitely be back. I only ordered drinks and oysters and the oysters were delicious. He did a great job explaining the different kinds to us. He was very thorough.
Atlas was one of our favorites. St. Burch kept a lot of what we liked with the new format and name. Excellent food, and several of the old favorites are still on the menu. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. The Den downstairs is quirky and fun.
Super friendly staff! Everyone in masks and bartenders wearing gloves. Felt nice and safe. I had a summertime gin & tonic with a strawberry shrub and basil, very fresh and yummy! I haven't been since St. Burch took over Atlas. There was an oyster bar in the upstairs and a cool lower bar called "The den" with cool red lighting and a nice chill atmosphere. Would come back again to hang out down there and enjoy the vibes/ music. Bartender was was also very friendly downstairs Tonight! 🙂 Did not get a chance to eat, just 1 drink.
had no complaints about the sandwich but the fries were top tier. I highly recommend getting the French fries here, you won't regret it.
Enjoyed lunch on the patio. Tried oysters for the 1st time, they have a happy hour as well for the oysters! The eggplant dish was amazing and the french press coffee hit the spot. 😊
Best Burger I've ever had!!!I came here randomly as I was doing a cross country road trip and WOW!! what an amazing food this place had. The server was extremely warm & helpful. The burger was so juicy that I tried not to add anything to alter its taste. The waitress also recommended a hot sauce that I loved. Overall a great experience that anyone in the area must try.
Great service. Steak salad was awesome.
Eclectic food choices that were all delicious.
Meh. That's all. Meh. Oysters were edible, clams not so much. No cocktail sauce and horseradish for the oysters. Funky mignonette sauce. Option of sauces would be good. The weirdest thing is, for a supposed raw seafood bar place, most of the entrees aren't seafood based. Go figure.
Best restaurant I have EVER been to. The aesthetic alone is enough reason to go. Not only is the food spectacular and the drinks magical, but the people that work there are out of this world! Talk about H-O-S-P-I-T-A-L-I-T-Y. :)
Nice upscale feel with upscale prices. The food was good and the service great.
The best shrimp cocktail in town! Good place for lunch, yummy drinks, great service, and cute interior. Head down to the Den for a cozy atmosphere and delicious cocktails!
The lemon tart with handmade lemon poppy seed ice cream is TO DIE FOR!!! I wish I had taken a photo, but I ate it too fast! Our server Seth was really nice and very helpful/patient with ordering. He has superb hospitality skills. Plus they have happy hour from 3-6PM with half off drinks and oysters:)An Edit: went again today and the sandwiches were not very good. This is a seafood place so maybe stick to that because it’s pretty fresh here. I had the ground meat sandwich but it was basically room temperature... The mulled wine however was awesome and the service yet again was excellent. I think our server was named Ian and he was really sweet and helpful. Reminded again once we sat down how cute this place is... the bar would be an awesome place for a date!
Great oysters, I think probably best in Iowa city. Their regular menu could be improved a bit though. Good service.
The food was wonderful. The oyster poorboy and salmon chower was amazing. Live it
Ceaser grilled chicken salad was average, not bad but somewhat bland and flat. The white bean and kale soup was quite good, we'd get it again. The service was poor. Everyone was on the ball, hostess, table manager?, Food delivery etc BUT our waiter was way more interested in schmoozing than serving us. I guess we weren't hipster enough.
Happy hour (half priced oysters and seafood tower) ROCKS!
We had a reservation here for dinner after a football game. We arrived early but we were seated right away. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks before food came out but I understand they are busier than normal. Both cocktails I had were great and the server was attentive. The crab ravioli was excellent as well as my trout. We ended with the lemon tart which was perfect.
This is my absolute favorite place in I.C.. great drinks, excellent service, and the den is such a great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
This is a cute little restaurant with quite tasty food! My boyfriend really enjoyed his burger, and I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp. Don't let that little bowl fool you: it holds a LOT of shrimp! and it is very good. That being said, they have this sauce my son received with his chicken tenders that made them out of this world. Without that sauce they're just good. With the sauce: amazing. The queso dip was very good, but the chips tasted like they came from a grocery store bag. Not inedible by any means, but also not freshly made in-house. At least, they didn't have that freshly made taste. It was a little disappointing. Also a tad disappointing, while still very tasty, was the size of our cheddar bay biscuits. Perhaps Red Lobster has spoiled us, but the bites we were served had us wanting more. Otherwise, our service was great and sitting outside on the patio to eat was near perfect. Would eat here again.
Raw bar, Friday fish fries, impossible burgers, this place has it all. And the Buffalo Chicken Wrap is still on the menu from Atlas days (at the time of this writing, anyway.) Lobster Pot Pie is excellent!
They were at the art festival downtown and decided to try them out. I had regular gyros which was like $10 personally I didn't like it. The meat was salty and sauce was very blend.
Fantastic, service, atmosphere and oysters! Must go happy hour, or we'd have to sell an arm and a leg.
The food is incredible, and the atmosphere is lively and elegant. My wife and I sat at the tavern bar and dined. The chicken picatta was perfect, tender from the sous vide, but crisp skin from a flash fry. My wife had the roasted mushroom melt, and it was impeccable. Our bartender was informative, and his technique was confident and well-practiced. Thank you, Chad, for great service. Cheers to the team, the chefs, and future success. My compliments all around, keep doing what you're doing!
Great oysters.. but the drinks are overpriced. Sometimes that's necessary if you want the perfect Manhattan.
They do amazing things with oysters and seafood. Cool atmosphere, great music, cocktails, generous portions, food that makes you clean your plate. Also the coffee... French press and delicious. A great addition to the Iowa City food scene, not to be missed.
Great staff and delicious food and cocktails.
The filet mignon was incredible ❤️ I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere was really nice and the entire staff was just wonderful. Thanks again for an awesome experience!
Very nice den setting for a quiet evening with friends, family and colleagues. The food is good and the conversation better. The bartender has elephantine memory of patrons and their likes. And he is knowledgeable about the sports too. The appetizers are good especially the shrimp in a curried sauce and the cheese curds. The entrees are decent and the salmon was delicious and succulent. The potato puree was a bit thick and caked. Otherwise it was enjoyable.
West coast oysters delicious! Also had the Burch Burger must have!
The shrimp and grits and Cesar salad were great but the Cheddar biscuits are not biscuits more like biscuit bites, very disappointed in the biscuits because they were small, bland and not fluffy. Also overpriced, $7 for 10 mini biscuits.
Food is great not over priced and great service. No complaints about this place.
Excellent service, shout to Anthony! The seafood tower was delicious, the oysters and king crab were top notch!
The best part of my salad were the radishes. It’s pricey. The black bean burger was very good. The Mac and cheese was decent. It’s a nicer sit down place in the Iowa city downtown area.
Overall, the service was excellent and the drinks were superb. I did, however, order the $27 steak and it tasted like rubber, as if it was pulled from the abyss of abhorrent meats. Additionally, the "side" Caesar salad was approximately two bites worth of Dollar Tree-worthy lettuce and cheese. Long story short, go for drinks and a stereotypical "fancy" ambiance, but be prepared to get taken for a ride on the bland, overpriced food.
